Non-executive Chairman

Malcolm founded the Leisure & Allied Industries (LAI) group in 1958 in Perth, Australia. He served as the group’s CEO for 55 years until 2013 and is now its non-executive Chairman.

Timezone is the LAI group’s operating company, with over 220 family entertainment centres operating across Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Singapore, and Vietnam.

Helix Leisure is the LAI group’s supply company, encompassing Embed (the leading supplier of revenue management systems to the out-of-home entertainment industry), LAI Games (designer, manufacturer, and distributor of amusement machines), The Locker Network (operator of high-end electronic lockers), and Matahari Leisure (Indonesia’s largest amusement-machine manufacturing facility).

In 2009, Malcolm Steinberg received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA). It was the first and only time the award has been issued to a non-American.
